RN Wound and Ostomy Nurse - Wound Care - FT - 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM - (Hours may Vary)
A Wound and Ostomy Nurse is a Registered Nurse who is responsible for planning, organizing, and administering patient care within the scope of his/her training and expertise, collaborating with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes is met. This is done in conjunction with the objectives and policies of the hospital and the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Alabama. A Wound and Ostomy Nurse is responsible to the Clinical Supervisor, Department Manager/Director, Nursing Supervisor, Associate Directors and the Chief Nursing Officer. A Wound and Ostomy Nurse is responsible for the direction and supervision of Licensed Practical Nurses, Patient Care and Intensive Care Technicians and Nursing Secretaries. A Wound and Ostomy Nurse provides direct care and education, as applicable, to patients with wound and skin alterations and ostomy care.
A Wound and Ostomy Nurse provides direct care and education, as applicable, to patients with wound and skin alterations and ostomy care. A Wound and Ostomy Nurse is also responsible for Wound Vac placement and care.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Certifications / Licenses:
Current state Nurse license
Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) Certification
Must obtain Wound Care Certification within one year of performing wound and ostomy assessment care and treatment.
- Must have clinical knowledge of Wound and Ostomy assessment, care and treatment with a minimum of 3 years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
