Community Health Systems ICU - Med/Surg Supervisor in Enterprise, Alabama


Under the direction of the ACNO, assists in directing and evaluating department functions, in accordance with established philosophy. Responsible for orientation, training and assessing the performance of personnel and coordinating with the ACNO for corrective action. Relates effectively with all shifts for continuity of care; maintains satisfactory relations with other departments; participates in all phases of education, maintenance of records, and upgrading of policies, procedures, and skills of personnel in coordination with the ACNO.

Essential Functions:

  • Constantly in touch with activities and operational matters.

  • Provides recommendations and analysis of staffing, productivity and volume indicators to the ACNO.

  • Assists the ACNO to develop interdepartmental interactions and programs for system assessment.

  • Assists the ACNO to effectively select skilled candidates.

  • Provides timely, concise and specific feedback to items of importance or requests.

  • Identifies specific needs of specific customers and assures they are addressed to include but not limited to:employees, patients and physicians and coordinates with the ACNO.

  • Understands the complexities to be addressed (strategic planning) and has coordinates with the ACNO to identify methods to address each area of concern.

  • Has knowledge of their patient s psychological, physical and social needs.

  • Assists the ACNO to create a working climate that provides growth and job satisfaction.

  • Coordinates with the ACNO in planning changes and improvements.

  • Participates in hospital safety program.

  • Supports and enforces infection-control policies and procedures.

  • Assists the ACNO in evaluating the performance of personnel with recommendations for appropriate action.

  • Maintains a professional approach with confidentiality.


Education required:

  • Nursing Degree from an accredited university/college.

  • Bachelor s Degree Preferred in Nursing or related field.

Experience required:

  • Minimum of three years recent experience in an acute care clinical setting (2 years in critical caresetting) and/or management of a related clinical setting.


  • Must be currently licensed in the State of Alabama as a Registered Nurse.

  • Must have and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS).

  • Must have and maintain current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

  • Must have and maintain current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).RN licensure in the state of employment. Current BLS and ACLS certifications within 6 months of employment. CCRN preferred
